Twin Ring Motegi is a motorsport race track located at Motegi, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. Its name comes from the facility having two race tracks: a 2.493-kilometer (1.549 mi) oval and a 4.8-kilometer (2.98 mi) road course. It was built in 1997 by Honda, as part of the company's effort to bring the IndyCar Series to Japan, helping to increase their knowledge of American open-wheel racing.
Motorsport or motorsports is a global term used to encompass the group of competitive events which primarily involve the use of motorised vehicles, whether for racing or non-racing competition. The terminology can also be used to describe forms of competition of two-wheeled motorised vehicles under the banner of motorcycle racing, and includes off-road racing such as motocross.
Four (or more) wheeled motorsport competition is globally governed by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA); and the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) governs two-wheeled competition.
In 1894, a French newspaper organised a race from Paris to Rouen and back, starting city to city racing. In 1900, the Gordon Bennett Cup was established. Closed circuit racing arose as open road racing, on public roads, was banned. Brooklands was the first dedicated motor racing track in the United Kingdom.
Auto racing (also known as car racing, motor racing or automobile racing) is a sport involving the racing of automobiles for competition. Brooklands, in Surrey, was the first purpose-built motor racing venue, opening in June 1907. Internal combustion auto racing events began soon after the construction of the first successful gasoline-fueled automobiles.
The first American automobile race is generally held to be the Thanksgiving Day Chicago Times-Herald race of November 28, 1895. By the 1930s specialist racing cars had developed. Almost as soon as automobiles had been invented, races of various sorts were organised, with the first recorded as early as 1867.
Motorcycle sport is a broad field that encompasses all sporting aspects of motorcycling. The disciplines are not all races or timed-speed events, as several disciplines test a competitor's various riding skills.
Michinoku Pro Wrestling (also known as North Eastern Wrestling) is a Lucha libre professional wrestling promotion founded by The Great Sasuke in 1993 and is active mainly in the Tohoku region. It is the first local organization in Japan, and this is also part of the management strategy of "Venues in rural area are cheaper than the ones in metropolitan" and "There is a potential customer base in the rural areas because there is little entertainment".
