Shimizu Akira (Shimizu Akira, 1953 ) is a Japanese choral conductor and arranger. Vice president of Tokyo Chorus Federation. Chairman of the Japan Chorus Conductor Association (2016).
Born in Sapporo city, Hokkaido. Waseda University senior high school, graduated from Waseda University Faculty of Science and Engineering Department of Mechanical Engineering. He was aiming to be a conductor from the university while studying command law with Uglin · Garbor and Tezuka Yukinori, chorus commander Shinku Sekiya and piano with Mitsui Mitsui.
Currently he works as a permanent conductor of 15 organizations, as well as conducting guest conductors, seminar lecturers, judges of competitions. In addition, in order to expand the repertoire of choral songs, he also works as an arranger in the center of choral arrangement of popular music. In 2016 he took office as Chairman of the Japan Chorus Conductor Association.
