Mayumi Hama (marimba player)

Mayumi Hama is marimba player graduated with top honors in percussion performance(Marimba Major) from the Toho Gakuen College of Music. After completing the graduate course at the college, she was admitted to the University of Michigan for a special post-masters research course.

She studied the marimba under Keiko Abe and Michael Udow, the percussion performance under Kyoichi Sano, and the drum set under Michael Gould. At the Tokyo Music Symphony Orchestra, NHK, NHK Educational TV, Percussive Arts Society Convention, she attended as an invitation performance / panelist at The New Music / Research Day "Time for Marimba". She perform invitations at numerous festivals in domestic sciences such as the World Marimba Festival (Osaka), The Art of Migration, TUTTI New Music Festival etc. Also at the universities of various countries such as University of California Davis (USA), University of Michigan (USA), Chiapas State University of Arts and Sciences (Mexico), National Kaohsiung Normal University (Taiwan), Tokai University (Taiwan).

Mayumi Hama also performs other activities such as more cozy salon concerts and events at schools, welfare institutions and public facilities.
