Naoya Genei was born in 1979 in Abashiri, a port city of Japan’s northernmost main island Hokkaido, famous for the yearly ice flows which cover the sea in the winter. Graduated from Nihon Kogakuin College in Tokyo.
Naoya began his engineering career in 1999 at HeartBeat Recording Studio in Setagaya, Tokyo.
He is familiar with dance music, and with the latest audio engineering. Moreover, he is efficient in creating fresh sound with unique and contemporary bass lines in intense collaborations between himself and artists.
Also in pop and rock music recordings, Naoya Tokunou is constantly evolving his techniques and sense of getting the best sounds of band, understanding the context and meaning in which each tone consists.
Additionally, he does love analog sound, and he has been a serious vinyl listener for many years.
Since 2009, the most sought-after engineer has been working independently, and moved his base in Kyoto.
Now, his professional field has become greater. He’s been working as a recording and mixing engineer, a live audio engineer, and also as a mastering engineer.
They have been bringing him a wide range of works with various artists, his professional and clear mind, and his working style; precise, flexible and with various perspectives.
