Ushio Amagatsu was born in Yokosuka City in 1949. He founded Sankai Juku in 1975.
After the announcement of “Amagatsu-an” (1977), “Kinkan Boy” (1978), and “Processing Plant” (1979), the first world tour was held in 1980.
Since 1982, he has been publishing new works with the Paris City Theater as his creation base. To date, 15 works have been created through joint production with the theater.
In 1989, he became the artistic director of the spiral hall in Tokyo (Aoyama, Tokyo), directed “Apocalypse” by Takashi Kako (piano) and Izmael Ivo (dance), and “Fifth-V” using American dancers. (1990) is composed, directed and choreographed.
