Osamu Sasaki was born in 1955 in Japan, graduating from Musashino Academia Musicae. He was granted an Austrian Government Scholarship and studied at Mozarteum University Salzburg under virtuosos such as Herbert von Karajan, Sergiu Celibidache and Gerhard Wimberger. In 1979, he was awarded a prize as a finalist of the Karajan International Competition for Orchestra Conductors. He graduated from the Orchestral Conducting Department at Mozarteum University with honors and was later invited to work as a permanent professor of orchestral conducting.
In 1982, he directed a concert at the International Mozart-Week Salzburg in cooperation with an oriental conductor for the first time and was awarded the Paumgartner medal from International Mozarteum Foundation alongside an exceptional review from Opera Concerto magazine - “Prominent Mozart conductors, heartfelt and elegant”. He conducted the Deutsche Symphonie Orchester Berlin in 1984 and performed in the RIAS Berlin broadcasting concert for novices.
After returning to Japan, he conducted orchestras far and wide. He was the music planner at Osaka Symphony Orchestra from 1999 to 2009. From 2010 onwards, he was the permanent conductor at Nihonbashi Opera Tokyo and gained increasing recognition from Der Ring des Nibelungen and Tristan und Isolde. The well-known magazine Ongaku Gendai publicly reviewed his performances as “A contemporary ingenious Wagner spectacle” and “An authentic and striking performance”. He hosted shows in NHK-FM Symphony Concert and Tamori's Music World in the broadcasting field and further expanded his presence with the arrival of the Information Age.
In 2000, he established Luna-Luna, a website that provides mobile content for women. Luna-Luna was recognized as the first mobile health management website for women and has been continuous success. Sasaki's contribution is promising. There was a significant decrease in the number of abortions from over 340,000 in 2000 to 180,000 as a result of the increasing number of women who manage their health through mobile phones in Japan. He established Maestro Co., Ltd. in 2004 and is currently the representative director.
