Tokyo Ballet La Sylphide

La Sylphide, choreographed by Fillippo Taglioni, was premiered at the Paris Opera in 1832 amid the Romantic movement in Europe. It became a synonymous with Romantic ballet. It introduced many of the elements that dominated the Romantic movement--poetic scene with female dancers as supernatural beings in white tule, called 'ballet blanc'.

The Tokyo Ballet brings Pierre Lacotte's version of La Sylphide. Based on the Taglioni version, it was choreographed for the Paris Opera Ballet by Lacotte who brought new life to a masterpiece by collecting and assembling the pieces of the original sources.

Pierre Lacotte himself has had much confidence in Artistic Director Yukari Saito as repetiteur of La Sylphide, and the ballet has been an essential part of The Tokyo Ballet's repertoire. La Sylphide will close the 55th Anniversary of The Tokyo Ballet.

Paris Opera Ballet “Onegin”

Ballet de l'Opéra national de Paris, the world's oldest ballet company, returns to Japan for the first time in three years. Since its foundation, it has continued to be one of the leading ballet companies in the world with an incomparable heritage and attitude towards incessant innovation. Aurélie Dupont leads the Company on the Japan tour for the second time as Director of Dance.

On this occasion, the Company brings two masterpieces, Giselle and Onegin. Onegin, based on Alexander Puschkin's verse novel, is one of the greatest narrative ballets by John Cranko created for The Stuttgart Ballet. It will be the first time for the ballet to be performed in Japan by an overseas company other than The Stuttgart Ballet.

Alina Cojocaru (Dream Project 2020)

The world's leading prima-ballerina Alina Cojocaru returns to Japan with her friends as guest artists including Friedemann Vogel of The Stuttgart Ballet and Sergei Polunin.

For the third edition of Alina Cojocaru Dream Project, she presents two gala programs. Program A includes George Balanchine's Ballet Imperial. Program B features Frederick Ashton's Marguerite and Armand, which was chosen specially for the Japanese audiences to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of Margo Fonteyn.

Nausicaa of the new Kabuki-style valley

The new Kabuki "Nausicaa of Kaze no Tani", based on the Miyazaki Hayao manga "Nausicaa of Kaze no Tani", which has been loved not only in Japan but also around the world, will be held on December 6 (Fri)-25.
You can see all the magnificent stories as Kabuki, and this is the stage of the first year of Reiwa, a new page in Japanese theater history.

Broadway musical "West Side Story" Season 2

The West Side Story, premiered in 1957, is a musical written by Arthur Lorentz, written by Leonard Bernstein, written by Steven Sondheim, and designed and choreographed by Jerome Robbins. The Japanese version is translated and translated by Machiko Ryu, and the assistant directors are Michael Mastro and Xue Shuli.

In this performance, which will be held for about seven months, the performance will be divided into three seasons, each with a different cast. In Season 2, which will be staged from February 1 to March 10, 2020, Toro will be cast by Toshiro Murakami and Win Morisaki , Maria will be cast by Emma Miyazawa and Memi Tamura , and May J will be playing Anita .
