Betraying the Martyrs are a French metalcore band from Paris.

Betraying the Martyrs were founded in 2008. Before joining the band, Czaicki played in the French metalcore outfit, Darkness Dynamite. Guillet was the lead vocalist and keyboardist in the post-hardcore band, The Beverly Secret. Vigier and d'Angelo were in the metalcore band, Black Curtains.
On 18 November 2009, Betraying the Martyrs released their debut EP The Hurt, The Divine, The Light, a self-produced recording funded entirely by the band and mixed by Stephane Buriez. The EP sold more than 2,000 copies in France alone. Their first European tour, "The Survivors Tour" (2010), involved the band playing in support of Whitechapel, Dark Funeral, Darkness Dynamite, A Skylit Drive, Adept, Despised Icon, Dance Gavin Dance, While She Sleeps and Shadows Chasing Ghosts.

The band met current vocalist, British native Aaron Matts, during that tour, as he replaced Czaicki shortly thereafter. Czaicki opted to leave the band to pursue an art career.

In 2011, the band started working on their first album and quickly signed deals with Sumerian Records, for North America, and Listenable Records for the rest of the world. On 23 September 2011, their debut album, Breathe In Life, was released globally. The album was produced in the band's studio and mixed by Charles J Wall at Sonic Assault Studios and the cover art was created by Hauser, the band's bass player. The album works with the central themes of life, faith and interpersonal relationships.

Between April and May 2011, the group completed a second European tour, the "Breathe In Life Tour", for the promotion of their debut album. The tour included performances in Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg, Belgium, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Support on the "Breathe In Life Tour" was provided by Russian deathcore band, My Autumn, and Despite My Deepest Fear. Later that year, during the northern fall, the band toured the United States with Born of Osiris, Veil of Maya, Carnifex and Structures.

From Sorrow to Serenity is a progressive metalcore band from Glasgow, UK.
Forming in 2013, From Sorrow To Serenity released their roaring debut EP, 'Antithesis', to acclaim from the UK metal scene - earning them support slots with the likes of Chelsea Grin, Veil of Maya, Monuments, and performing at UK Tech-Fest all within the year.

In 2016, the band self-released their debut full-length album, 'Remnant of Humanity', touring with Fit For An Autopsy and appearing on the main-stage at UK Tech-Fest. The album received glowing praise in the press from Metal Hammer, Rock Sound, Metal Injection and many more.

Having recruited new vocalist Gaz King (formerly of Nexilva), the band released their stand-alone single 'Golden Age' in 2017, showcasing a step away from their deathcore roots; and a surge towards a modern technical-metalcore sound. Following the release of 'Golden Age', From Sorrow to Serenity toured the UK with Jinjer as part of their sold out UK tour in November 2017.

The band signed to Long Branch Records and released their first new single, 'Supremacy', in February 2018, before touring Europe with Betraying the Martyrs and Modern Day Babylon in March and April. A new album is in production, and planned for release in late 2018.

Boris the Blade is a five piece death metal band from Melbourne, Australia. Thanks to their balls-to-wall brand of technical deathcore, they have earned a reputation amongst fans worldwide for being Australia’s most violently heavy metal act.

The release of their debut EP ‘Tides of Damnation’ in 2011 on RTD Records marked the beginning of the bands rapid ascent to the top tier of the Australian brutal music scene. The EP debuted at #1 on the iTunes metal chart, culminating in national tours and support slots for international metal acts - and Australia’s own Parkway Drive – all within the bands first 6 months of existence.

The success of the EP was followed up with extensive touring, including supporting Obey The Brave (CAN), All Shall Perish (USA), Thy Art Is Murder (AUS) and Bleeding Through (USA) on their final Australian tour.
2014 sees BORIS THE BLADE sign with Siege of Amida / Century Media for the worldwide release of their debut LP ‘The Human Hive’, as the band takes their live assault global.

Richard Clayderman

Richard Clayderman has done what virtually no other French act has ever done….. established a truly international career as a best selling recording artist and concert performer.
Born Philippe Pagès on December 28th, 1953, he encountered the piano early in his life. His father, a piano teacher, laid the foundation for his son’s later success and began teaching him how to play at a very young age. It is said that, at the age of six, Richard Clayderman could read music more adeptly than his native French.

Early Success

When he was twelve years old he was accepted at the Conservatoire of Music where, at sixteen, he won first prize. He was predicted a promising career as a classical pianist. However, shortly after this, and much to everyone’s surprise, he cast aside his classical training and turned to contemporary music.

“I wanted to do something different”, Clayderman says, “So, with some friends, I created a rock group; it was a tough time….. a hard time….. and the little money we could make was devoted to buying equipment. In fact, I used to feed myself so badly – mainly on sandwiches – that I had to have an operation for an ulcer when I was only seventeen”.

Accompanist

At that time his father was becoming seriously ill and was unable to support his son financially. So, in order to earn a living, Clayderman found work as an accompanist and session musician. “I enjoyed it”, he says, “and it paid well at the same time. That is how I drew away from classical music, although it gave me a strong basis for what I do now”.

His talent did not go unnoticed and he soon became much in demand as an accompanist to such major French stars as Michel Sardou, Thierry LeLuron and Johnny Halliday. But, when asked about his ambitions at that time, he says, “! really did not want to be a star, I was happy to be an accompanist and to play in groups”.

Delphine

Nevertheless, his life changed dramatically in 1976 when he received a telephone call from Olivier Toussaint, a well-known French record producer, who, with his partner, Paul de Senneville, was looking for a pianist to record a gentle piano ballad. Paul had composed this ballad as a tribute to his new born daughter “Adeline”. The 23 year old Philippe Pagès was auditioned along with 20 other hopefuls and, to his amazement, he got the job.

“We liked him immediately”, says Paul de Senneville, “His very special and soft touch on the keyboards combined with his reserved personality and good looks very much impressed Olivier Toussaint and I. We made our decision very quickly”.

Ballade pour Adeline

Philippe Pagès’ name was changed to Richard Clayderman (he adopted his great-grandmother’s last name to avoid mispronunciation of his real name outside France), and the single took off, selling an astonishing 22 million copies in 38 countries. It was called “Ballade pour Adeline”.

“When I signed him”, says Olivier Toussaint, “I told him that if we sell 10,000 singles it will be marvellous, because it was disco at that time and we could not bet on such a ballad being a winner….. We could not imagine that it would be so big”.

Prolific artist

It was the start of what has become an outstanding success story, and since that time, Richard Clayderman’s distinctive piano style has earned him superstar status all over the world. Today he has recorded over 1, 200 melodies and, in the words of a German journalist, “he has arguably done more to popularise the piano around the world than anyone since Beethoven”.

Richard Clayderman has created a “New Romantic” style through a repertoire which combines his ‘trademark’ originals with classics and pop standards. He has clocked up massive worldwide record sales of approximately 90 million, at the last count, and an incredible 267 Gold and 70 Platinum discs to his credit.

However, “The Prince of Romance” (as he was dubbed by Nancy Reagan) is not simply a recording artist. In fact, despite his natural shyness and reserve, he is completely in his element on stage ; a Richard Clayderman concert is a real ‘Spectacular’.

World tours

“I love performing live on stage”, he says, “because I have direct contact with my audience. In concert, with my 10 musicians or a symphony orchestra, I like to mix different tempos, rhythms and styles to evoke all kinds of emotion”.

Clayderman’s international success has resulted in a punishing itinerary which, in the past, has seen him play as many as 200 concerts in just 250 days spent outside France. In spite of this, he remains very much a family man.

Fantastic Negrito - 2019 Grammy Award Winner.

Fantastic Negrito is the incarnation of a musician who is reborn after going through a lot of awful shit. In fact, the name Fantastic Negrito represents his third rebirth, literally coming back from death this time. The narrative on this man is as important as the sound, because the narrative is the sound. Songs born from a long hard life channeled through black roots music. Slide guitar, drums, piano. Urgent, desperate, edgy. Fantastic Negrito is the story of a man who struggled to “make it”, who “got it”, who lost it all, and somehow managed to find his way back. These are singular songs by a true musician who writes and produces his own work. His songs are his fuel as he continues on the third comeback of his life, at a time when our world is in upheaval

Fantastic Negrito was raised in an orthodox Muslim household. His father was a Somali-Caribbean immigrant who mostly played traditional African music. When, at the age of 12, Negrito’s family moved from Massachusetts to Oakland, he was hit with an intense culture shock. Oakland in 1980s was a million miles from Negrito’s conservative childhood. He went from Arab chants to Funkadelic in one day, living in the heart of one of the wildest, most infamous, most vibrant black communities in the nation. Shit was extra real in Oakland.

By the time he was 20, Negrito had taught himself to play every instrument he could get his hands on. He was recording music, but he was also caught up in street shit. This went on for several years until a near-death encounter with masked gunmen. After that, Negrito packed his bags and headed to LA, armed with a demo on cassette.

It didn’t take long for Negrito to find himself entrenched in the ‘Hollywood’ lifestyle; “clubs and bitches and bullshit politics that have nothing to do with great music.” Negrito signed with a big-time manager and soon after that, a million dollar deal at Interscope …and soon after that, creative death.

The record deal was a disaster. Gangsta rap ruled the airwaves and Negrito was in the wrong place at the wrong era. Negrito came out of the deal with a failed album and his confidence gutted. He was infected by the constant emphasis on ‘what would sell’; which looks, hooks and gimmicks would attract an audience. He lost all sense of himself. The songs stopped coming to him, so he quit. He sold all of his shit and he quit.

In 1999, Negrito was in a near fatal car accident that left him in a coma. For four weeks it was touch and go. His muscles atrophied while bedridden and he had to go through months of grueling physical therapy to regain use of his legs. Rods were placed throughout his body. And worst of all, his playing hand was mutilated. Though he rehabbed intensely for several years, the damage was permanent. In 2008, he returned home to Oakland.

Back in Oakland, Negrito forgot about life as a musician. He settled down, planted vegetables, raised his own chickens, and made money growing weed. He also settled into being a man, on his own, clear of the distractions of wanting to be a star. This is when his specific POV of the world came into focus. His conservative Muslim values melded with the liberal, multi-cultural world of Oakland. The cynicism that comes from struggle made room for the hope that comes from cheating death. He truly knew who he was. He was confident about his place in the world because he understood it as much as any man can. And then his son was born.

With his son's entrance into the world, all the creative energy Negrito bottled up came rushing out. His musical choices were sharp and without doubt. He began recording without the hindrances that come with chasing trends. “Fuck what’s hot now, what moves me?” Negrito turned to the original DNA of all American music, the Blues. The beating he took in life had given him primed him to channel his literal and musical forefathers: the Blues musicians of the Delta.

Operating with a sense of destiny, and no longer constrained by other voices, Negrito returned to the streets of Oakland to test his songs. He went “to the places no one wanted to hear them,” street corners and BART stations during rush hour. He knew if he could reach people, if he could get them to stop, listen, and connect, he was on to something. It was there, on the streets he shaped his sound and his message.

Negrito would go on to win the inaugural NPR Tiny Desk contest. The following year he released his debut full-length album TheLast Days of Oakland, which was immediately met with critical acclaim. NPR called it “among the rawest pieces of music — sonically and emotionally — you'll hear all year.” The album went on to win the Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues Album in 2017.

Negrito’s music also caught the attention of Chris Cornell, who invited Negrito to tour with him, first in Europe, then North America, and finally with Cornell’s legendary supergroup Temple of the Dog. The unconventional pairing won over fans and critics everywhere. From there Negrito went on to play major festivals tour extensively throughout Europe and North America.

But none of this has been about awards or acclaim or validation. Negrito chased those before -- and it nearly killed him. Now, as he looks around, sees the world going on a similar journey...especially America. This is a man who knows what it looks like to drive off a cliff.

When you listen to Negrito, you’re invited to hear the story of life after destruction. For anyone who ever felt like it was over yet hoped it wasn’t, this is your music.

After completing the equivalent of three world tours in the space of four years, it was time for Zaz to take a break. A Zaz-style break, full of energy and passion: not only did she produce the album Gipsy Traffic for her guitarist Guillaume Juhel, she created a socially responsible festival in Crussol, Ardèche, and found time for some travelling, away from the tour itinerary.

And so the album was made, with both creative urgency and the patience of an artist sifting through the many song proposals she received. Her last album of original songs, Recto verso, dates back to 2013 and it's clear that her vision of the world has been profoundly reshaped by her travels and her encounters.

No brief was given to the songwriters, not even a clear direction. She simply wanted songs that were right for her, that fulfilled her need for incarnation, transparency, and honesty, through the good times as well as the bad.

Zaz is not afraid to admit it: it's not always an easy process. Though millions of listeners and viewers are regularly moved to tears, or energised by her songs, she works cautiously and tentatively, discarding and rewriting until finally she is satisfied with her songs.

Listening to Effet Miroir, you wouldn't necessarily know which songs are her own work and which were given to her by others. The album's opening track, Demain c'est toi (Tomorrow it's you) talks about a future child. "These are my words", she says, but they were written by Gaël Faye. In J’aime j’aime (I like, I like), Marion Romitti draws a self-portrait of a solitary dreamer and, in Je parle (I speak), Ben Mazué gives her a voice ("Me, I speak / I try, I try, I give it a shot / You know there's no harm done / It's the silence that scares me").

But Ma valse (My waltz), with its softness and intimacy, is entirely of her own creation, written at five in the morning, with the voice on the demo used directly on the album: "Watch me smile / Like a rose in the breeze / Fluttering, growing beautiful / Under the burning desire / Of being alive and queen / Of my innocent world".

For Résigne-moi (Let me go), she liked a demo by Ilan Abou, recorded an energetic "load of rubbish" in the studio, and then wrote and recorded final version at home: "I'm trying to understand what I feel / To see where I stand in all this / To learn how to better love myself / I know this but have to take it on board / More in my body than in my psyche / Let me go, let me go".

She closes her album with the memory of a trip, in Lapland, a combination of confession, slam poetry and artistic reflection, as she portrays the frozen splendour of the Far North and of life itself. Images of a far-off land, echoing the album's title, Mirror Effect, about which she says: "Everything we see in the world is our own vision, through our own lens, what we love, what we hate, what makes us angry, what we create... When we look around, it is often ourselves that we see".

Effet Miroir could easily have been a double album, with so much to say about her own career, her hopes and fears for the future. Never before has she been so involved in developing an album, at every stage of its creation, and always striving for perfection - the colour of each instrument, the sincerity of every word about her personal life, the relevance of her social expression…

Effet miroir is only her third album since 2010 (plus two live albums and a homage to her adopted city, Paris), drawing inspiration and strength from her many adventures and collaborations. With a sense of urgency and escape, half in Paris and half elsewhere, the album was mostly made with the production teams of Jo Francken and Ilan Abou. There was a trip to Montréal to the studio of Patrick Watson, who blends his voice with hers on Mes souvenirs de toi (My memories of you). And another to Raphaël's studio to record the resolutely cinematographic Saint Valentin (Valentine's Day). Then a very rhythmic side step (irresistible on stage!) with Mathieu Boogaerts's Pourquoi tu joues faux (Why are you playing so badly), before straying into Beatles territory in Toute ma vie (All my life) by Jérémie Kisling ("I had to spit it like Blondie", she says).

Along the way, she took the time out for an eleven-date tour to fund the Zazimut project, benefiting local community and environmental initiatives, all while introducing new songs. The fans immediately grabbed onto new anthems like On s’en remet jamais (You never get over it) which tackles mourning in all its forms with an inexhaustible lust for life, as well as the reggae sound of Plume (Feather) by Florian de Taevernier who wants to "Meet the sun... and just see what it looks like", and the Hispanic momentum of Qué vendrá, the first single released from the album. Then there's Nos Vis (Our lives) by Tibz, a collective self-portrait of a generation - "For sure, we are good together / I swear, that our lives are alike / I know, we'll be drawn to each other / For sure, we are good together".

As for the singer herself, and her extraordinary artistic adventure spanning several continents, she is easily recognisable in Si c’était à refaire (If I had to do it again), whose lyrics are co-written by Sophie Maurin and Lise Chemla: "I sing, I fall, I move, I progress / And if I had to do it again / Laid bare, fierce as a mother / I would follow my tracks in the dust". Zaz shows us just how deep her mirror goes. We see ourselves in it too…

Oedo Hawaii Festival 2019

The Culture exchange between Japan and Hawaii began with the arrival of the first 149 Japanese (first year) in May in 1868 (the first year of Meiji period). Since the contract between the two governments in 1885 (Meiji 18), we have accumulated a long history of more than 100 years.
This event was also 4th to be held this year. With Hawaii that is tied by deep bonds, we are aiming to deepen the bond further, We hope that people can "enjoy", "listen", "feel", "taste" Japan-Hawaii history and its’ traditional culture in this cultural exchange event to promote the charm of Japan and Hawaii.
Hula dancing meets taiko drumming at this eclectic fusion festival that celebrates both Hawaiian and Japanese culture in Nihonbashi over one weekend in early June. The underground (and properly air-conditioned) Belle Salle hall will see a good 80 acts showcasing everything from taiko drumming and shamisen, swordsmanship and Japanese dancing to hula and traditional Hawaiian music, while the consumables are set to range from loco moco bowls to washoku.

They released their debut album The Mortal Coil in 2017 and it was nominated for the 2018 ARIA Award for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album.
Polaris has built its reputation as one of the most exciting live acts in the Australian heavy music scene. They toured consistently throughout 2016 supporting the “The Guilt & The Grief” at an ever-increasing scale by selling out most of their own headline tour, with supporting acts such as Parkway Drive, Plini and Intervals and capped it off in a sold-out East-coast tour with Northlane and Hellions in November.

LANDMVRKS is singer Florent Salfati, drummer Nicolas Soriano, bassist Rudy Purkart and guitarists Nicolas Exposito and Thomas Lebreton. They are a young metalcore band from Marseille, France formed in 2014. They have inked a record deal with Arising Empire. The band re-released their current single ‘Fantasy’ via this record label.
They released their first music video “Meaningless” in August 2014 as their first single and month after month they released others music videos as “Empty Place” “Outside and In” and “Winter” featuring Mattéo from the band Novelists.
During two years they’ve been working on their first full length named Hollow and was released by themselves in May 2016. During an all year they were touring all over Europe and played in great festivals with bands like Architects, Pierce the Veil, The Devil Wears Prada, While She Sleeps…
At the end of 2017, Thomas Lebreton parted ways with the band.
LANDMVRKS is now performing internationally.

BRAHMAN -POPLIFE pre.RADIO WAVE Vol.135

BRAHMAN-POPLIFE pre. RADIO WAVE Vol. 135 to be held in Fukuyama HOT BLUES CAFE (Hiroshima Prefecture) on 2019.4.12 (Fri).

Brahman is a punk band formed in 1995 in Ibaraki prefecture, Japan. Their name comes from the Sanskrit word Brahman meaning the Supreme Reality, and represents their ethos of bringing Asian influences to the Western punk genre, including Okinawan, folk and gypsy music.

They quickly established a following with their individual rock/punk style and in November 1996 released “Grope Our Way” a mini-album. Their popularity throughout Japan blossomed and enabled them to tour the nation extensively and follow up quickly with another high quality mini-album titled “Wait and Wait” in October 1997. In 1998, besides playing countless sell-out shows throughout Japan Brahman released their Chart topping first full-length album “A Man Of The World”.

In 2005, they performed 56 shows and made a record of sold out shows. Right after this nation wide tour, they also had an accomplishing tour in Italy, Austria and other European countries. In 2005, they finished up their 10th anniversary year with another successful tour.

POPLIFE is an annual event. It started in November 2005 and regularly held in MONDO CAFE. It is a no-charge party and people feel free to enjoy music.

There is no space between POP and LIFE, please. It is not "POP LIFE" but "POPLIFE".

Ready At Dawn Studios is an American video game developer located in Irvine, California and is composed of former members of Naughty Dog and Blizzard Entertainment. Formed in 2003, the company has primarily worked on games for the PlayStation Portable (PSP), most notably the Sony Computer Entertainment intellectual property God of War and Daxter. Ready At Dawn also now has a satellite campus in Portland, Oregon to assist with future PC and console game development.
Ready At Dawn was founded in 2003 in Irvine, California, United States by Ru Weerasuriya, Andrea Pessino, Didier Malenfant, and former members of the Sony Computer Entertainment subsidiary Naughty Dog. They released their first game, Daxter, in 2006. The company finished working on their second PSP game, God of War: Chains of Olympus as well as a Wii port of Ōkami, with added motion controls. In June 2008 it was confirmed that the company had ceased developing games for the PSP, and that they had returned the relevant development kits to Sony. However, reports claim that the developer received new development kits after returning. Their next game was God of War: Ghost of Sparta, collaboratively developed with Sony's Santa Monica Studio for the PSP, with their new proprietary engine. Ready At Dawn released the God of War: Origins Collection for the PlayStation 3 on September 13, 2011. This collection is a port of their two God of War games for the PSP, Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta, to the PS3 with high-definition graphics, DualShock 3 support, Trophies, and Stereoscopic 3D, the first God of War release to support this feature.

In October 2009, Ready At Dawn began working on a new game engine. The Ready At Dawn Engine is said to be a wholly console-centric platform, integrated with a suite of third-party tools that require no additional license. These tools include 3D content editing, audio, user interface, and asset management systems. In July 2010, it was announced that Ready At Dawn had made thirteen employees redundant, citing difficulties in finding funding between projects behind the redundancies. In early 2012, the company began hiring for the development of a third-person action-adventure game for a "next generation home console game system." Ready At Dawn and Sony later revealed the game at E3 2013 as The Order: 1886. In June 2015, Ru Weerasuriya, the founder of the company, announced that his position as CEO will be replaced by Paul Sams and will step down to become the company's president and chief creative officer. Ready At Dawn was in attendance at the large Chinese game publisher, Tencent’s UP Conference in April of 2017, this was to announce a partnership to bring Ready At Dawn games into China. This partnership was headlined by bringing the game Deformers to China, although it was short lived due to the Deformers servers being shut down August of 2018.
