Shohei Sekimoto

Shohei Sekimoto (April 10, 1985 -) is a pianist from Toyono-machi, Osaka Prefecture.

He is the Japanese nova who won 4th place at the 15th Chopin International Piano Competition in October 2005 and has expanded the range of international activities. Shohei graduated from Toho Girls High School Music College (co-ed). He also graduated from the 2005 Ecole-Normar School of Music (Rohm Music Foundation Scholar). From 2006 - 2008, he studied at Toho Gakuen University Soloist Diploma Course.

Shohei Sekimoto started playing the piano at the age of 5, and has studied under Chikako Inagaki, Mikhail Voskessensky and Marian Libbitsky so far. At the age of 14, he studied under Yuko Ninomiya. He had a concert history at Carnegie Hall and Steinway Hall, and also has worked with the Warsaw State Philharmonic Orchestra.

Currently, he moved his base and started living in Gifu Prefecture. He is keen on teaching backwards and is invited to seminars and master classes throughout the country. He is Nagoya College of Music Associate Professor, part-time lecturer at Kinjo Gakuin University, part-time lecturer at Kikusato High School.
