Saxon ( SAXON ), the England of heavy metal - band. Along with " Iron Maiden ", " Dehu Leppard ", etc., it is one of the representative bands that have driven the NWOBHM movement, and its activities span over 40 years. In addition to this band, there is also a "Saxon" caused by the leaving original member. Bikh Bayford (Vo) and Paul Quinn (G) of the local band "Coast" in England Yorkshire , Graham Oliver (G) of "SOB" and Steve Dawson (B) join, "Son of a Bitch Formed ". In 1977, Pete Gill (Ds), who had been active in the "glitter band", formed a rock band "Saxon (SAXON)". Debuted in the album "SAXON" in 1979, the year of the NWOBHM movement base point with this lineup .

After the 2nd album "WHEELS OF STEEL" announced in 1980, he performed a world tour and appeared in the first " Monsters of Rock ". The 4th album "DENIM AND LEATHER" of 1981 won a silver disc in his home country. Many of the songs represented by the album titles were supported by bikers in Europe , with the theme being the lyrics on the theme of bike riding and their style .

First visit to Japan in 1981 . Pete Gill (Ds) withdrew in 1982 and replaced with Nigel Glockler .

Released the 6th album "CRUSADER" in 1984 . With the aim of advancing into North America , the shift to pop music that was conscious of the LA Metal Movement at the time, so it gets into a slump period by buying notoriety from conventional fans. During this time Steve Dawson (B) withdrew and replaced Nibbs Carter.

Gradually returning to the starting point from the 1990 's 10th album "SOLID BALL OF ROCK", we continue to announce high quality heavy metal albums as we accumulate works. The original member Graham Oliver (G) will be fired the following year, ending with the 1995 album "Dogs of War". Doug Scarlat joins anew.

Later, Graham Oliver and Steve Dawson registered the band name "Saxon" as a trademark, and developed activities under the name of Saxon. The main band who considered as a problem sued for suspension to the trial and began to contest the use of the band name. It was finally recognized as a conditional band name "Oliver / Dawson Saxon", and another "Saxon" was derived. ( Also see the section of # Oliver / Dawson Saxon )

2007, the 30th anniversary of the formation. He came to Japan for the first time in 26 years for joining HR / HM festival " LOUD PARK ". The reaction from the fans was well received, and in 2008 and 2011 the next solo show was held in Japan .

In 2012, the band bio film "Heavy Metal Thunder" is released. It was screened in 2016 in Japan
