Kohei Ando (Saxophone, Flute, Ewi, Guitar)
Kohei Ando or MELRAW was born in 1989. Since childhood, he has been familiar with music of various genres.
He self-studied JazzSax in junior high school entrance and participated in many bands and gained experience of playing.
He went on to university of music and studied theory and rendition style with Mr. Yasuhiro Kohama, Mr. Atsushi Ikeda, Kazuki Katsuta etc.
In addition, he went to America alone in 2010 and deepen friendship with New York musicians, participated in many sessions and live. In the session of Soul, R & B's Mecca "Village Underground", he gained popularity and participated in weekly host performances.
After returning to Japan, MELRAW won a semi-Grand Prix in a contest organized by Mr. Kuriyama Koto who is the leading jazz pianist in Japan, and co-starred with Mr. Blue Note with Mr. Kuriyama.
He won the Best Soloist Award at "The 42nd Yamano Big Band Jazz Contest". In the same year, in the "East Sea Big Band Contest", he also won the Best Soloist Award.
After moving the base of activities to Tokyo he works extensively from underground scenes to activities such as supporting of major artists, recording etc., mainly on activities with bands such as "Electrik Jinja Band", "Monkuru" and "WONK". He is drawing attention in various fields as a next-generation Sax player.
