Toshio Matsuo is a Japanese visual artist who was born in 1926. Toshio Matsuo has had several gallery and museum exhibitions, including at the Tochigi Prefectural Museum of Fine Arts. Many works by the artist have been sold at auction, including 'Shunen' sold at iART 'The 5th Anniversary' in 2013 for $10,683.
In 1949, he was accepted to the 34th Restored Inten Exhibition for the first time.
In 1971, he was appointed to the Dojin of the Inten.
In 1979, he was awarded The 35th Japan Art Academy Prize.
In 1994, he became a member of The Japan Art Academy.
In 2000, he was selected as a Person of Cultural Merits.
In 2012, he was awarded The Order of Culture.
In 2016, Toshio MATSUO passed away at the age of 90.
