Ayako Ukawa is a tap dancer .She started studying at age 10, with Kuniyasu Kato of Jam Tap Dance Company. Mr. Kato was responsible for bringing Jimmy Slyde to Japan on several occasions and Ukawa was influenced toward jazz and tap improvisation. She began to perform in Tokyo jazz clubs and in 2000, released a CD, THE TAP, of jazz with tap dance percussion. Ukawa has also performed with accordion and with flamenco guitar as musical partners.
