Saleem Ashkar made his Carnegie Hall debut at the age of 22 and has since gone on to work with the Wiener Philharmoniker, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Mariinsky Orchestra, Leipzig Gewandhausorchester and Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin; with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Daniel Barenboim, Riccardo Muti, Nikolaj Znaider, Fabio Luisi, Lawrence Foster, Jakub Hrůša, and Riccardo Chailly — with whom he has recorded and appeared at the Proms and Lucerne Festivals.

In recent years Saleem has made debuts and return visits to many great orchestras, including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre National de Lyon, Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg with Znaider, Bamberg Symphoniker with Christoph Eschenbach, Japan Philharmonic Orchestra with Pietari Inkinen, National Arts Center Ottawa with Alexander Shelley, Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya with Kazushi Ono, and a three-week tour to Australia which saw performances with the Melbourne, Adelaide and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras, during which his Brahms Piano Concerto No. 1 was praised for its insight and vigour respectively (The Sydney Morning Herald).

In the 2018-19 season, Saleem makes his Orchestre de la Suisse Romande debut with David Afkham, and has return invitations to the Konzerthausorchester Berlin with Jan Willem de Vriend, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra with Eliahu Inbal, and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra with James Feddeck.
