Makito Nishiya

Makito Nishiya was born in Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture. He started playing cello at Suzuki headquarters in Matsumoto from 5 years old (studied under Mr. Mizushima Ryuro). When he was 8 years old he moved to Nara with his father's transfer. At that time, because there was no Suzuki method classroom in Nara, every weekend he went to lessons in Osaka (Mr. Sugiyama Minoru, Master Kenji Morita).

After that, he entered the Faculty of Music at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts (studied under Mr. Fumiaki Kono, Mr. Tomoya Kikuchi).

After graduating from the university, he traveled to the United States and studied hard at the Indiana University, completed the Performer Diploma Course in 2004 (Mr. Tsutomu Tsuyoshi, studied under Janeos Starkel).

In chamber music, Makito Nishiya studied under Keiko Urushihara, Ichiro Nodaira, Shoumura Shinzo, Shigeru Neriki, Ikwan Bay, Federico Agostini and others.

In 2005 he finished studying abroad for 3 and a half years and returned home. Since September of the same year, he joined the Hyogo Arts Center as a first stage student at Hyogo Arts Center for the Arts and Culture (generally known as the Hyogo PAC Orchestra) led by the conductor.
With a memorial recital, he was chosen as the No. 1 artist for the 2008 Hyogo Arts Culture Center One Coin Concert.

As a soloist of Concerto, he has worked with Mr. Akiyama Kazuke, Tadayaki Otaka and Yutaka Sado, Yasuko Otani String Quartet, Band Neon Player Ranga Komatsu's Tango Orchestra, Live Imagine, Taro Hakase Violin Summit Participate in various activities such as participation.

In 2013 he hosted a pianist Mr. Shigeo NERGI as co-star, holding a recital in Tokyo and Kyoto. It received favorable acclaim, received the Aoyama music award of 2013.

In 2015, as a challenge to a new music field, he formed "Shimizunishiya" with Mr. Yasuaki Shimizu, the principal violinist of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. He had a debut CD Album "KODO" by multi-track recording of all songs including original song & two performances released on November 11.

Currently since 2008, he is the principal cellist of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and a part-time lecturer at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music.
