He wanted to get involved in the production progress work and applied for Gainax. As the post was not available, it was not possible to get the job, but he was asked to come to the interview by the officials of Gainax who saw the enclosed material. He talked with the president, Hiroyuki Yamaga, and the director, Yuki Sato, and he joined Gainax as setting creation position. At that time, Sato noticed that the trace of spray remained in the clip which was holding the material, and was aware that Wakabayashi's hobby is a plastic model production. Model production for motorcycle materials that appeared in anime "The Forgotten Melody" became the first job at Gainax.

Hiroki Mutaguchi is a Japanese animator. He graduated from Yoyogi Animation College Fukuoka school. Considerable members like Kiyoshi Tateishi and Yu Yamashita were Mutaguchi's classmates. He has been worked for Arms Corporation, Studio G-1 Neo etc. and now he is a free animator. He's a genuine mechanical animator that wants to do robot rather than animation.
Mechanism composed of beautiful straight lines is Mutaguchi's characteristic as Seiichi Nakatani. He is strongly influenced by Masami Obari and Masahiro Yamane. His nickname is "Mechanic Teacher" from the credit notation of "Asura Line 2". He also said he likes to draw effects such as sparks at the time of mechanical coalescence, and in "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The Movie 2nd A's" he served as an effect designer. Since he belonged to Studio G-1 Neo, he often joins in Obari's work.
Mutaguchi is also known as a big fan of SD Gundam, and he is often in charge of SD Gundam related works and scenes such as "SD Gundam Sangokuden Brave Battle Warriors" and "Gundam Build Fighters" series.
He got married at the end of 2013 to Satomi Watanabe who is also an animator.
