Okubumi Hikaru ( born February 6, 1956) is a Japanese novelist. He is a professor of Faculty of Literature, Kinki University.
He was born in Mikawa Town, Higashigawa gun, Yamagata Prefecture. He graduated from Saitama Prefectural Kawagoe High School, International Christian University (ICU) and School of Arts and Sciences.

His "Bird sky fish school of the earth" applied for the Subaru literary award in 1986 became the final candidate, and later debuted as a novelist posted in "Subaru". In 1990, "Waterfall" was the 3rd Mikishima Yukio Prize candidate and 103rd Akutagawa Prize candidate.

In 1993, he won the Noma Literary and Freshmen Prize / Bunme Anti-Literature Award in "Quotation of Novalis". The Noma Municipal Literature Newcomer Award was awarded simultaneously with Kosi Hosaka "Breakfast on the Grass", contrasting style became a hot topic. In 1994, he won the Akutagawa prize by "history of stone". The work is translated into English, French and so on. In 1999, he was appointed as Associate Professor at Kinki University and now he is a professor. In 2009 "Sacred treasure" received the Noma Literature Prize. Akutagawa Prize selection committee from 2012. In the same year, "Stylish life of Associate Professor Kuichi Kuwakata" was television drama. In 2014, he won the Tanizaki Junichiro prize at "Tokyo autobiography".

In 2018, he was awarded the Publishing Culture Award and the Risaburo Shibata Award for "Snow Floor".
