Rika Masato is a violinist born in Hiroshima, Japan, Rika Masato began playing the violin at the age of three.
Rika Masato is the winner of the 3rd prize of Paganini International Competition in 2006, the 1st prize winner of Societa Umanitaria of Milano International Musical Competition in 2011 and the 1st prize winner of Dominique Peccatte International Competition in 2016.
She has concertized internationally at venues such as Salle Gaveau, Salle Pleyel, Cite de la Musique (Paris), Theater Carlo Felice (Genova), Colon Theather (La Coruna, Spain) and Suntory Hall (Tokyo).
She has played as soloist with orchestras such as Amadeus Chamber Orchestra, National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia, Carlo Felice Theatre Orchestra, Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra, Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra, Moldova Philharmonic Orchestra, Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra and Sapporo Symphony Orchestra.
She has also appeared in TV and radio programs in France and Japan.
She studied with Koichiro Harada at Toho Gakuen Music High School and graduated with the highest distinction in 2007. She moved to Paris to study with Roland Daugareil, Concertmaster of Orchestre de Paris, at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. She completed her Master degree in 2011 with the first prize and the prize “Francoise DOREAU" and received "Artist Diploma" in 2013.
She studied also at Mozarteum University of Salzburg postgraduate program with Pierre Amoyal. Her other teachers include Patrice Fontanarosa and Gyorgy Pauk.
Rika Masato performs on the 1710 Giuseppe Guarneri (filius Andreae) violin.
