Masashi Kimura is a Japanese contrabassist and guitarist. He graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts. He studied contrabass with Jun Saitoh and Yoshio Nagashima. He has played with Norio Maeda, Takeshi Inomata, Toshihiro Nakanishi and Yoshiro Nakamura. He has also joined tours of Hideki Togi, Shinji Tanimura, Hiromitsu Agatsuma, Yoshihiro Kai, and so on.
He supervised Contra Bass Ensemble "Black Bass Quintet" and released three albums. He has also released an album "Weeping Cherry" with his own band "suono reale".
Currently, he works in various genres such as classical like orchestra, jazz, pops, etc. He recorded for LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII Original Soundtrack, also other drama, movies, animation, commercials, etc.
