 The "Macros Series" is a group of animation-oriented works consisting of the science fiction and robot animation "Super Space Fortress Macross" and its sequel, Gaiden.
In 1982, the continuous television animation "Super Space Fortress Macross" was produced by Big West, produced by Studio Nue. In 1992, the OVA 'Supers Fortress Macross II -LOVERS AGAIN-' (hereinafter referred to as 'II') is released without the involvement of Studio Nue. Studio Nue returned to the original in 1994 and the OVA "Macros Plus" (hereinafter "Plus") and the TV anime "Macros 7" were announced, and the series was established. Since then, series work has been developed focusing on TV animation, OVA, and animation films, and a large number of publications, music, toys (plastic model), games, etc. have been released as well as video works. There is no plan to announce the latest TV anime, broadcast in 2018, announced in 2017.

Most of the television series are produced daily by Broadcast Broadcasting (MBS), and are broadcasted by TBS (JNN). MBS has also participated in the production of OVA works except Macross Zero (hereinafter "Zero"), but the first TV broadcast of "II" was produced by TV Seto and ours, and it was broadcasted on the TV Tokyo series.

The central creator of the creator is Masaharu Kawamori, a mechanical designer and director. In OVA, he became the general director from "plus", and in the television series he became the general director from "macros F" (hereinafter "F"), and satellites with Kawamori were in charge of video production. Planning, main mechanical design, settings, screenplay, storyboards, product supervision, as well as managing the entire Macross series as a single work. In addition to this, concept designer Kazuki Miyatake, character designer Haruhiko Mikimoto, and mechanic drawing director Ichiro Itano also contributed as major staff, but have been renovating as a new generation of staff after Zero.
