Yoshida Jiro born in 1958 in Fukuoka is a guitarist. He is interested in jazz listening to John Coltrane at the age of 15 and a piano at the age of 5 and a classical guitar at the age of 6 years.

He moved to Tokyo at the age of 18 and started professional activities as a studio musician. After that he was active in the front line, but listening to Miles Davis in Shinjuku in 1981 became a turning point, and went to the United States in 1983. Entered Berklee College of Music the following year. After graduation, he was a lecturer at the same school.

He has been living in New York since 1990 and began full-scale music activities. His activities range from core jazz such as Oliver Lake and Philis Hyman to Joe Sample, Michael Franks, Ricky Lee Jones, Sergio Mendes and Phoebe Snow, and touring support for pop artists.

As a jazz guitarist, he presides over his group "New Sound Workshop" and continues to perform serious music activities as an artist, such as challenging experimental music. As a producer, he appointed Astrad Gilberto in the tribute work "Ayers to Jobim" (BMG Japan) to Carlos Jobin, and a project "Tribute," which co-starred Janice Siegel of New York Voices and Manhattan Transfer.
