Raphaël Favre
A native of La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland, Raphaël Favre began singing under the tutelage of Marie-Lise de Montmollin and then pursued his studies at the La Chaux-de-Fonds Conservatory of Music. To complete his qualifications he studied under Christoph Prégardien at the Academy of Music in Zurich. During his time there, he also had the opportunity to improve his knowledge of German Lieder thanks to the teaching of Hartmut Höll.
He is a a prize winner of the International Competition "Franz Schubert and the Music of Modern Times" in Graz and the "International Art Song Compétition Stuttgart".
In the intervening years he has regularly concertised in the following places: Ludwigsburger Schloss Festspiel (D), Rheingau Musik Festival (D), Kissinger Sommer (D), Bachfest Leipzig (D), Festival de Noirlac (F), La Folle Journée (F), Hölderlin Turm Tübingen (D), Stefaniensaal Graz (A), Liederhalle Stuttgart (D), Toppan-Hall Tokyo (J), Civic-Hall Morioka (J).
His repertoire includes the major sacred works of Monteverdi, Bach, Handel and Mozart. Romantic and Contemporary oratorios in addition to a large number of German, French and English songs. Raphaël Favre is as comfortable interpreting polyphonic pieces from the Renaissance period as he is Contemporary Music.

He made his opera début as Paolino in Il matrimonio segreto by D. Cimarosa and went on to interpret the roles of Tamino in W. A. Mozarts The Magic Flute, Medoro in J. Haydns Orlando Paladino and the 1st Manager in P. Hindemiths Neues vom Tage and Hans Scholl in U. Zimmermanns Weisse Rose.
He has also participated in Music Festivals in Switzerland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and in Japan under the direction of many conductors, including: Michel Corboz, John Nelson, Michael Hofstetter, Dominique Tille, Phillippe Krüttli, Jérémie Rohrer, Thomas Rösner, Adriano Giardina, Laurent Gay, Marc Kissoczy, Peter Siegwart and Jan Schultsz

His recording of F. Schubert's Winter Journey with guitarist André Fischer published in 2013 by the label Stradivarius was very well received by the international press. With pianist Satoko Kato he recorded a selection of Franz Schubert's Lieder published by the label SARU international music (2015) and for the same label, the CD "Folksong Arrangements for Voice & Piano" (2019).
