Hitoshi Uyama (Uyama Hitoshi, March 17, 1953 -) is a director. He was born in Yamato Takada City, Nara Prefecture. Hitoshi Uyama works at Literary Seat Production department affiliation and he is a director of the Japan Director Association.
He enrolled Nara Women's University Faculty of Letters High School, Keio University Faculty of Letters and graduated from the Department of French Literature.

After entering the Performing Arts Institute and entering the Institute of Theater for Literature as a 17th grader, in 1982, he was promoted to a literary seat position.

His initial production work is "Opera · Shinigami" in 1980, in straight play it is the literary atelier performance of 1982 "Prague 1975".

Since then, he continued his energetic activities both inside and outside the theater company, especially on works by Shakespeare and Hisashi Inoue. For 1 year from 1983, he stayed in Paris as a foreign trainee of the Agency for Cultural Affairs. From September 2007 to August 2010, he served as the 4th artistic director of the theater division of the New National Theater.
