Akane Tanaka is a Japanese pianist, born in Sano city, Tochigi prefecture. She graduated from Tokyo Institute of Music Faculty and received the Yasu Award in campus. While studying abroad, she performed in Geijyo's orchestra and completed the graduation from music department of Tokyo University of the Arts.
She ranked the 2nd place in the 32nd All-Japan Student Music Competition Elementary School Student Division. At the 11th Tateshina Highland Music Festival, she received the youngest artist award and won the 1st prize at the 16th All Japan Student Music Competition High School. She also ranked 2nd place in the 2nd Mozart Music Competition Piano · Solo category and received Maeda Prize.
In 1993, at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, she sponsored by the Japan National Federation of Music and recital by the Agency for Cultural Affairs. She stayed in Germany for 19 years and actively perform not only in Japan but also in Germany. In February 2006, she hold a concert by Sadio Miyamiya at Cologne Japan Culture Center in Germany.
