Sofia Kiprskaya is a France harpist, born in 1991 and began to study music at the age of five. She is currently a fourth-year student at the St. Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in the studio of Anna Makarova and continually engages in master classes with renowned harpist Jana Boušková at the Prague Conservatoire and The Royal Conservatory of Brussels. During the 2008-2009 season Mr. Kiprskaya was a member of the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and since 2011 she has served as a principal harpist of the Mariinsky Orchestra.
Ms. Kiprskaya served as a participant in the sixth European Harp Congress in France (Lyon, 2004) and in the international festivals Virtuosi of the Planet (Kiev, 2008), Musical Olympus (2010), and Crescendo (2011); and she performed a recital at the World Harp Congress in Amsterdam (2008).
Sofia Kiprskaya has been a prizewinner at numerous international harp competitions including the Concours Félix Godefroid (1st prize and Coq d’argent special prize of the Association of Harpists of France and Belgium, Namur, 2003), Lily Laskine International Harp Competition (2nd prize, Deauville, France, 2005), Franz Josef Reinl Stiftung Competition (1st prize, Munich, Germany, 2007), etc,. At the second International Golden Harp Competition in St. Petersburg in October 2011 she won 1st prize as well as the special prize for the best performance of a work by Tchaikovsky.
