Katsunori Ishii began playing the piano at the age of seven, winning 3rd place in the Japanese music competition while studying at Tokyo University. He was invited as a special trainee to the Tanglewood Music Festival in 1992 and studied under L. Fleischer and P. Zelkin. In the following year, he won R. Casaduşu International Piano Competition prize.
After graduating school of New York · Manness Institute of Music, he learned piano from R. Selkin's, S. Brown, music analysis by C · Shactor, conducting by M · Charlie, and in 1996, he got the J · Federman Piano Award Completion. In the following year he won the Hamamatsu International Piano Academy Competition. As a soloist, they collaborated with New York · New Amsterdam Hibiki, Kayuga, Ohio, Costa Rica National Symphony, Yomiuri Nichiko, Nippon Philharmonic, Tokyo City Phil, Kumiko, Osaka Hibiki, and held "Midnight music concert" appeared to others.
In 2009 he was invited to the Portuguese Viana do Castelo International Music Festival and played Haydn's F major Piano Concerto in his own cadenza and gained popularity. He was a member of the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition Steering Committee and an expert advisor, professor of Tokyo College of Music, professor of special invitation at Toho Gakuen University Gakuin University.
