Tomoki Sakata, 22, is a student of Arie Vardi at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover (Germany) and Andrea Bonatta in Brescia (Italy). Mr. Sakata was a finalist at the 2013 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, gold medal and audience prize winner at the 2011 PTNA Piano Competition (Japan) and winner of the Ivan Moravec Prize at the 2011 Prague Music Performance International Piano Competition.
He has made recital, chamber music, and concerto appearances throughout Europe, Asia, the U.S., and Africa, including major concert halls such as Dvořâk Hall in Prague, Philharmonie in Luxembourg, Salle Cortot in Paris, and others. Mr. Sakata also has performed as a soloist with many orchestras, including the Czech National Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony, Youngstown Symphony, l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Maroc, and Tokyo City Philharmonic.
He has appeared in numerous festivals, including the Brussels Piano Festival, International Music Festival Janáček May (Czech Republic), and the 12th International Festival “Musical Kremlin” at the invitation of Nikolai Petrov.
