Born in Vienna. He studied under Professor Richard Crochak at Vienna Music and Expression Art University and received personal guidance from Professor Emanuel Brabeck.
He has won awards at numerous international competitions such as Budapest in 1963, Moscow in 1966, Vienna in 1967 and so on.
Currently, he is the principal cello player of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, but the affiliation of the band is actually the third generation, following her father who was a solo clarinetist and grandfather, a violinist.
