Wei Wei Wuu was born in Shanghai, China, and began to study violin at the age of 5. She studied at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music affiliated primary school and the Shanghai Theatre Academy, specializing in erhu and violin, and graduated with the first grade. Then she gave up the welfare protection as a professional performer in Shanghai and went to Japan in 1991. Through the erhu, she has energetic cooperation with various types of musicians. Since then, she has developed the world's first electronic erhu, which will always be played in a traditional way of playing the erhu, and has established a unique style of performance.She has become possible to make a joint interpretation of rock, jazz and pop music, and become the pioneer of modern erhu performance. 

In May 2002, Wei Wei Wuu signed with Warner and made a grand debut.

The second album was released in July 2003, the album "Shanghai Red", which expressed respect for the hometown and received high praise from all sides. In addition, the Japanese national anthem was played in the opening game of the professional baseball in Seibu Baseball Stadium, and many theme songs were played in NHK, which attracted attention.

In 2004, she played erhu in the works of Mr. Sakamoto Ryuichi. From June to July, she used the song "Love for Sisters" in NHK's "Everybody's Song", which further attracted attention. In October of the same year, she published "Hey?バカラック. The album became the topic of "using erhu to listen to coffee music (tea drinking music)" and entered the best-selling record list.  

In the spring and summer of 2005, she was selected by Suntory Oolong Tea TV advertising propaganda song, and used erhu and song to perform "チェンジング?パートナーズ" (パティ·ペイジカヴァー).

In January 2006, she released the album "Nomad" with the concept of "Using Erhu around the World".

In June, she released the album "CHINA BLUE" with Kenny G's performances, as well as TV dramas and TV series theme songs, and won the "ADLIB AWARDS 2007" award.

Wei Wei Wu's performance is warm and elegant, standing and playing erhu is her unique style. In addition to personally hosting the erhu teaching outside of Tokyo, and interacting with artists from home and abroad, and playing with the orchestra represented by the NHK Symphony Orchestra, she transcends the traditional Chinese erhu performance.
