Mai Suzuki is a Japanese violinist of the next generation. She is from Kanagawa prefecture.
Mai Suzuki graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and undergraduate studies at Lausanne, Salzburg and Munich with Pierre Amoyal and In Golf Turban. In the direction of recital and concert at home and abroad, she has appeared in recitals and concerts both inside and outside the university, with Yomiuri Nikko, TOKYO, Nippon Philharmonic, Tokyo (Japan), under the direction of Kenichiro Kobayashi, Masahiko Iimori, Norimori Iimori, Kanseikon, Nicholas Milton, Jorgema Panura, Ivan Lepsic.
Mai Suzuki won 1st prize at the “Vaclav Huml” international competition in Zagreb, 1st prize at the Orpheus Swiss Chamber Music Competition in Basel in 2013, was also awarded 2nd prize at the Vladimir Spivakov international violin competition in Ufa, Russia, 2016.
Mai Suzuki has come to prominence in Europe since she became a finalist of the 4th International Violin Competition Henri Marteau in 2011.
Her career has been extending rapidly with international ensemble such as Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, Kuopio Symphony Orchestra, Hofer Symphoniker, Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and others under the baton of Jorma Panula, Nicolas Milton, Pavle Dešpalj, Ivan Repušić, Tomislav Fačini, Philippe Béran, Norichika Iimori, and Kenichiro Kobayashi. Her performances of violin concerto by Mendelssohn, 2nd concerto La Campanella by Paganini, 1st concerto by Shostakovich, and concertos by Mozart received high acclaim. She has recorded Beethoven’s violin concerto and Thaïs Meditation by Massenet with Tokyo Symphony Orchestra.
The violin that is played by her is Nicolo Amati, dates from 1683.
She is based in Munich, Germany.
