Saito Ichiro is a conductor born in Ohno city, Fukui Prefecture. He graduated from Tokyo Gakugei University and Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He won the Yasu Award while being in college.
Since 1998 he has studied at Vienna as an overseas trainee of the Art Center Agency for Cultural Affairs.
In 1997, he debuted with the Osaka Century Symphony Orchestra (currently the Japan Century Symphony Orchestra). In 2002, he had first appeared in regular performance at the Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra 2003. From April 2014 he became music director of the Kyoto Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra.
