Ariga Seikon

Ariga Seikon (although there is Makoto)was born in 1937. He learned Violin from his father.
In 1954, he won the first prize at the Tube Punching Competition. After graduating from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, he was the principal Timpanist of the NHK Symphony Orchestra.
In 1960, he founded Tokyo Percussion Ensemble, he was responsible for a new world trend. Fascinated by the Boston Symphony Orchestra who came to Japan, he studied in USA with a single cargo ship in 1963 and studied under Mr. Vie Firth.
Tanglewood, Boston, New York touched the state-of-the-art music of the United States, he was interacting with prominent musicians and waking up to a feeling of UP.

He won the Arts Festival Excellence Award three times, including Japan's first "Timpani Concert". He continued activities with no boundaries, collaboration with jazz, dance, theater, disabled people, etc.
München, Luxembourg International Competition Jury. Tanglewood, Mongolia, Chapas music festival has given him invitation performance. He also has a career in Producer and Director.
Ariga Seikon is considered to be one of the Legendary Timpanists.
