Malteserock was formed in 1997 by Morito who writes the music and lyrics. Their activities are centred around Naha. Through the power of their music they were leaders in revitalising the Sakaimachi market area of Naha.
Moreover, they have given powerful live performances in Japan and overseas. They toured Europe playing in France, Switzerland and Britain, and were guest musicians in an event in Taiwan. ‘The LP Collection Vol.1’, a 2012 compilation album released in Europe, included one of their songs ‘Sono Soro’. Their activities have broadened to include stage music and also supporting arrangements for musicians in the genres of poets rock, folk, and Okinawan minyo.
Their music absorbed a lot of element that makes us feel deep roots of Okinawa and has a universal spread. Its powerful performance is gaining high praise not only in Japan but also overseas.
