Sumihito Uesugi is a Japanese alto opera singer, from Kochi Prefecture. He graduated from Kochi University and completed the graduate school. Completed doctoral course at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Ph.D. (Music). From 2005, he studied at the Swiss Basel Conservatory · Scholastic School of Contemporary Art and studied at Gerd Turk and Andreas Scholl. Sumihito Uesugi won the highest prize at the 2000 Early Music Competition (Yamanashi). He also served for Solis of Geiho Messiah sponsored by the Asahi Shimbun for two consecutive years and gained popularity.
