First launched in Irvine, California, in 2012, KCON is hosted by CJ E&M and held in multiple countries throughout the world. Attending the event has become an annual pilgrimage for K-pop fans around the globe, with more than 566,000 fans taking part throughout its seven-year run.
Live Viewing Japan, Inc. engages in video and drama productions for cinemas and theater concerts. The company also organizes live events and stage shows. Live Viewing Japan, Inc. was founded in 2011 and is based in Tokyo, Japan.
EXID (/iː ˈɛks aɪ ˈdiː/; Hangul: 이엑스아이디; short for "Exceed in Dreaming"), is a South Korean girl group formed in 2012. The group currently consists of five members: Solji, LE, Hani, Hyelin and Jeonghwa.
EXID debuted in February 2012, with the single "Whoz That Girl". Though the album gained some attention, it was not until 2014 that the group unexpectedly gained popularity with the single "Up & Down", which reached number one on the Gaon Singles Chart four months after release due to a fan-recording of a live performance becoming a viral video. EXID released their second EP Ah Yeah in April 2015, to commercial success. They followed this with their first studio album Street (2016) and the EPs Eclipse and Full Moon (2017).
On January 11, 2016, EXID signed with China's entertainment company Banana Project in a bid to extend its popularity outside Korea. On 11 May, Banana Culture announced EXID's launching of their Japanese official website, which included a Japanese fan club. They also announced a debut showcase at Tokyo to be held on June 27.
NCT 127 is the NCT's second unit, based in Seoul, with the number "127" representing the longitude coordinate of Seoul. The unit consists of nine members: Taeil, Taeyong, Yuta, Jaehyun, WinWin, Mark, Johnny, Doyoung and Haechan (formerly known as Donghyuck).
On July 7, 2016, they had their official debut stage on the music program M Countdown, performing their title track "Fire Truck" and "Once Again" from their album. Their debut EP NCT #127 was released digitally on July 10 and physically on July 11. On July 29, the unit released the single "Taste the Feeling" for the project SM Station in collaboration with Coca-Cola.
On December 27, NCT 127 announced that they would be making a comeback with the addition of two members, new member Johnny and NCT U's Doyoung. On January 5, 2017, the music videos of "Limitless" was released and the unit had their comeback stage on M Countdown. "Limitless" was named by Dazed Digital as one of the top 20 best K-Pop songs of 2017.
On June 14, 2017, NCT 127 released their third mini album, Cherry Bomb which "Cherry Bomb" was chosen by Billboard and Idolator as one of the best K-pop Songs of 2017.
Golden Child (Hangul: 골든 차일드; an abbreviated as GNCD or GolCha ) is a South Korean boy band formed by Woollim Entertainment in 2017.The group debuted on August 28, 2017, with their mini album Gol-Cha!. Originally an eleven-piece group, the group currently consists of ten members, following the departure of Park Jae-seok.
Golden Child officially debuted on August 28, 2017, with their first mini album, Gol-cha!, with a total of six tracks including the title track "DamDaDi". Their debut showcase was held at the Blue Square iMarket Hall on the same day as the album's release. On September 17, the song has reached No. 1 on Japan’s largest music site Tower Records’ daily chart.
On May 9, 2018, Golden Child confirmed to performing at KCON NY 2018. On May 22, Golden Child held first fanmeeting Golden Day to celebrate their first debut anniversary in Seoul, South Korea. They also held Japanese fanmeeting in Nagoya and Tokyo on May 24 and May 25 respectively.
Fromis 9 (Hangul: 프로미스나인 or 프로미스 9; initialism for "From Idol School"; stylized as Fromis 9 is a South Korean girl group formed by CJ E&M through the 2017 reality show Idol School. The group composed of nine members: Roh Ji-sun, Song Ha-young, Lee Sae-rom, Lee Chae-young, Lee Na-gyung, Park Ji-won, Lee Seo-yeon, Baek Ji-heon and Jang Gyu-ri.
On November 29, 2017, Fromis 9 performed their pre-debut single titled "Glass Shoes" at the 2017 Mnet Asian Music Awards in Japan. The song was released as a digital single the following day. They also performed the song on the December 15th episode of Music Bank, the group's first-ever appearance in a music program.
On January 8, 2018, it was announced that Fromis 9 would officially debut with their first extended play (EP) titled To. Heart. The EP, along with its lead single titled "To Heart", was released on January 24.
KCON is an annual Korean wave convention held in different locations across the world, created by Koreaboo in 2012 and organized by CJ E&M. It was first held in Southern California as KCON USA and has since expanded into eight different countries as of 2018. In 2015, KCON expanded to Japan.
The event is to introduce Korean culture and spread K-Culture to Korean Wave community. The fans who visit KCON will have chances to see Korean artists and experience everything related to Korean Wave such as K-Food and K-Beauty naturally.
