Hodaka Maruyama (丸山穂高 Maruyama Hodaka, born January 10, 1984) is a Japanese politician serving in the House of Representatives in the Diet (national legislature). Maruyama was born in Sakai, Osaka and graduated from The University of Tokyo in 2006. After graduating from university, he got into the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry,Japan. In 2009, he joined The Matsushita Institute of Government and Management. In 2012, as a member of the Japan Innovation Party, he was elected to the Diet for the first time. He was reelected it in 2014 and appointed Vice-Chairman for the Policy Research Council and Diet Affairs Committee of the party. And then, he was elected for the third term in 2017.
In 2019, during a visit to the Russian Kunashir Island, he were reported to have been drunk and shouted "Nothing will be accomplished unless we go to war" and others, remarking on the Kuril Islands dispute. This has resulted in wide criticism in Japan and led to him being ousted from the party. And furthermore, impeachment resolution to him was unanimously approved in the House of Representatives.
