Kazuki Yamada (Kazuki Yamada, 26 January 1979) is the conductor of Japan. Born in Chino, Kanagawa Prefecture.
I am familiar with the piano and choir since I was a child (by the Kinoshita style sense teaching method). He decided to aim at the conductor in earnest when he was in the third grade of high school, and it was said that one of the chances was that he experienced conducting at the brass band during Kochigaoka High School in Kanagawa Prefectural.
Studied under the supervision of Kenichiro Kobayashi and Yoko Matsuo at Tokyo University of the Arts Faculty of Music, and graduated in 2001. While in college, he formed the "Tomato Philharmonic Orchestra" (renamed "Yokohama Symphonietta" from 2006) and became music director. He also has a broad repertoire, such as playing the entire Beethoven symphony at the age of 22.
By April 2016, he had performed in western orchestras such as the Paris Orchestra, the French National Orchestra, the Toulouse Capitol National Orchestra, and directed major Japanese orchestras including the NHK Symphony Orchestra.
Since 2005 he has been a conductor in residence of the Tokyo mixed choir and has been conducting regular concerts and performing commissioned works, as well as releasing CDs from Fontec.
On September 17, 2009, he won the Besançon International Conductor Competition, which is famous as a young conductor's entrance gate. As Japanese, it is the 7th since Seiji Ozawa won in 1959.
From September 2010 to August 2012, he served as Deputy Conductor of the NHK Symphony Orchestra.
On August 23, 2010, he appeared in the Saito Kinen Festival Matsumoto, conducting Beethoven's piano concerto No. 4 (piano is Yu Koshiba) and symphony No. 7. It was a recommendation of Seiji Ozawa who listened to the performance at the Besançon International Music Competition.
From the 2012 season, he became principal conductor of the Swiss Romande Orchestra, principal conductor of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, and music partner of the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra.
