BAYCAMP 2019
Music Music festival

At the end of the summer of 2019, there will be the BAYCAMP 2019, the only urban, all-night, outdoor rock event in the Tokyo metropolitan area. The BAYCAMP 2019, which will be held at the 9th time in 2019, will last 2 days in earnest. The All Night Rock event is being held, but the first day will be held on daylight, and the second day will be all night. So, on the first day there is no age limit. It is BAYCAMP that has been defined as enjoyment of adult play, but it is also an outdoor rock event that parents and children can come to. On the second day, it is all night, so it will be 18 and above as usual. The layout change in the hall last year and the noise problem have been improved.

In the eighth year, BAYCAMP 2019 has received many new artists who are no exaggeration to say that it is the next-generation lineup. The number of artists will also be the highest number of participation ever.
The band SHISHAMO is back. Straighteners, Wiennars and OGRE YOU ASSHOLE will be joining us again this year. Keiichi Sokabe is the first to participate from Sunny Day Service, which was the headliner last year. The revived SPARTA LOCALS will be participating for the second time. Next-generation representatives teto, Domiko, TENDOUJI, and the hottest SIRUP and VaVa have already been lineup. There will also be Newcomer Zoo Caradel and Young Ohara who last year was the TIP OFF ACT.

And .... As a Kansai pre-event, Kobe BAYCAMP will also be held this year. We will have an all night event at Kobe Harbor Studio.

Chai (stylized as CHAI) are a four-member all-female band from Nagoya, Aichi, Japan. Forming in 2012, the band released their debut studio album Pink in 2017.

The band's debut extended play Hottaraka Series was released in August 2015, exclusively at digital retailer Ototoy and as a tour exclusive CD. In August 2016, the EP was released to streaming services globally, with the song "Gyaranboo" serendipitously reaching number 36 on Spotify's UK top 50 chart, even without any active promotion in the UK by the band. The band moved to Tokyo in 2016 in order to focus on becoming full-time musicians. In October, Chai were signed to Sony Music Japan after winning a competition in order to find acts to perform at Japan Nite at the SxSW festival in Austin. In December, Hottaraka Series was given a nationwide release. After their US SxSW tour in March 2017, the band released their second extended play, Homegoro Series, distributed through Otemoyan Record, a record label imprint founded by Chai.

The band describes themselves as a new exciting onna-band (ニューエキサイトオンナバンド, "new exciting woman band") or "NEO". They aim to redefine the definition of kawaii ("cute") as "neo kawaii", feeling that everyone around them was striving for a narrow definition of cute. They believe that everyone is cute in their own way, and wanted to express this through their music. As a theme of the band, the members of Chai decided to wear pink. They felt that actively choosing to do this was liberating, as they did not believe that the color suited them naturally. The band also tries to use psychological complexes as inspiration for their music.

Stereogirl play an emotionally charged combination of alt-rock, punk and new wave. In 2014, high school classmates Anju (vo) and Kanako (gt) decided to form a band and they recruited Yuka, a talented drummer in the schools music club. However, Yuka would only join if they included her friend Chamicot—a guitarist with a reputation at school as being ultra dorky and lame. Anju was fiercely against Chamicot becoming a member but acquiesced for Yukas sake. Chamicot, who was almost excluded from the band is currently the creative force behind all of Stereogirls music and lyrics.

Stereogirl started as an all-girl band but after high school graduation the original bassist quit and was replaced by Riku, a die-hard fan who frequented their shows.

Chamicot is a fan of UK bands such as The Smiths, Oasis, and Stone Roses while Anjus favorites lean towards the US eg Pavement, Television, Suicide, Velvet Underground. Consequently, Stereogirls music and style is a mish-mash of US and UK indie, punk and garage rock with a dash of Japanese emo/shoegaze eg Kinoko Teikoku.

The members of Stereogirl are still university students and growing as musicians; however, they already have excellent stage presence and a killer live act that is packed with energy and soul. The songs may sound simple and derivative but at the same time ageless and incredibly catchy. Personally, their first ep ベイビーぼくらはL.S.D. stood out as one of my top 5 releases of 2018 and their new ep NADA is already a shoe-in for a favorite of 2019.

Stereogirl have developed a decent fanbase through memorable performances at major festivals such as Summersonic and Otodama. In March, theyll travel to Austin,Texas for SXSW 2019. Stereogirl is a young band that truly loves music and it especially shows when theyre cheering and dancing their hearts out supporting the other bands at their shows. The future for Stereogirl is very bright and they will blitzkrieg NMFT14 with fun, energy and passion in spades.

Helsinki Lambda Club (ヘルシンキラムダクラブ) is a four-piece Japanese indie rock band under UK.PROJECT. Helsinki Lambda Club was formed in the summer of 2013 in Chiba Prefecture, Greater Tokyo Area, Kantō region, Japan. Their music draw influence from garage movement and indie rock bands, such as Pavement, Dinosaur Jr., The Libertines, Happy Mondays, The Stone Roses, The Drums, The Cure, The Strokes and The Clash.
In the beginning of 2014, they were selected as the best artist out of a total of about 1,000 entries at the audition sponsored by UK.PROJECT.
In April 2017, guitar player Sakuma Kouhei decided to left the band, and replaced by Group2's guitarist Kumagaya Daiki.
Their mini album, olutta, that came out around the same time turned out to be a quite interesting and diverse release. It had some similarly upbeat tracks, but also featured gems of a different kind, like the melancholic Night Market. And based on the track-by-track preview they uploaded a couple of weeks ago, the new album, which will be their first full length, seems to follow the same path as the previous mini.

Nothing's Carved in Stone is a Japanese rock band formed in January 2009. After Ellegarden decided to go into hiatus in 2008, the group's guitarist Shinichi Ubukata created Nothing's Carved in Stone as his solo project. Their debut album Parallel Lives was released on May 6, 2009, debuting at No. 11 on the Japanese Oricon weekly album charts.

In 2008, the popular pop punk group Ellegarden announced that they would enter an indefinite hiatus. Guitarist Shinichi Ubukata used the break as an opportunity to start a new band called Nothing's Carved In Stone. He quickly recruited Hidekazu Hinata of Straightener to be his new bassist and Takanori "Oniy" Ohkita from FULLARMOR to join on drums, and they began holding sessions together. However, the band struggled to find a vocalist for nearly half a year. They eventually settled on Taku Muramatsu, the singer of an indie rock band called ABSTRACT MASH, who Ubukata discovered through his band's Myspace. After showing his bandmates a few videos, Ubukata and Ohkita attended one of ABSTRACT MASH's lives and, charmed by Muramatsu's performance, convinced him to join the band.

Nothing's Carved In Stone moved quickly after their line-up was complete, playing their first live on February 27 at Daikanyama UNIT. Their debut album, Parallel Lives, was released on May 6, 2009 and was followed by two nationwide tours. The album went on to reach the eleventh spot on the Oricon charts. Nothing's Carved In Stone also firmly announced their presence on the Japanese rock scene that year with performances at high-profile events like the SWEET LOVE SHOWER, SUMMER SONIC and the ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL.

Not even waiting for their debut year to end, the band released their first single, "Around The Clock", in December 2009. Their first concert DVD, Initial Lives arrived on the same day, documenting the band's powerful live performances and strong camaraderie between its members.

2010 brought the album Sands of Time, a similarly-named tour and several festival appearances. The tour was likewise documented with a DVD entitled Time of Justice, which was released in December like its predecessor.

Akai Koen is a four-piece girl band from Tôkyô composed by Sato Chiaki (Vo./Key.), Tsuno Maisa (Gt./ Cho.), Fujimoto Hikari (Ba.), Utagawa Nao (Drs./Cho.).They have a really authentic pop rock sound with noise and shoegaze part. In 2011, they toured during Next Music from TOKYO vol 3, with bands like NATSUMEN. EMI Records signed them in 2012.

Guitarist Maisa Tsuno has prodigious song-writing talent and is responsible for all lyrics, composition and arrangement. A perfectionist at heart tempered by a willingness to take risks Tsuno draws on her eclectic influences (eg Boredoms, Radiohead, Jim O'Rourke) to craft gorgeous compositions ranging from deliciously sweet to intensely discordant. Akai Koen's candid behaviour and virtuosic musicianship set them miles apart from typical female rock bands that rely on cuteness and sex appeal to mask a mediocrity in talent.

Performing live in front of an audience is something Akai Ko-en cherishes above all else. It is something so sacred they prevent and remove all music and video footage of themselves on the internet. Their CDs can only be purchased directly at shows. This way the majority of the audience approaches the performance with a blank slate and no advance warning of the sonic adrenaline rush they are about to experience. Word of mouth is all Akai Ko-en needs to flourish and their legendary live performances in Tokyo have already created a massive underground buzz. In fact Akai Koen make their major label debut early next year.

Yabai T-Shirts Yasan (Yavaiti shirt and san) is a three-piece rock band in Japan. Based in Osaka and forming in 2013, being on and off over the years. Comprising of three members Morimori (Drums), Kojima (Vocals and Guitar), and Shibata Ibusabu (Vocals and Bass). The band started to rise to fame in 2015 when they either won or came at the top in a couple of competitions. Fast forward a year later and the band signed to major label Universal, and at the time of writing have released 3 albums, recently adding a new single hinting at album number 4. At this point the band are yet to tour overseas, but with their sound it is bound to happen (or so this writer is praying for).

Lie and a Chameleon is a Japanese rock band including Asahi (bass), Yūta (guitar), Cham (vocal), Sōsuke (guitar), and Takumi (drums). They formed on April 1, 2014 in Tokyo.

Their first music video "Saredo Kijutsu-shi wa Sai wo Furu" reached 1.4 million views in 6 month despite absolutely zero promotion. They held their first one-man concert on June 24, 2017, on the same they released their second music video "N-shi no Tsuite". They released their debut mini-album Yosō wa Uso yo on September 6, 2017.

Verbal play with adopting nursery rhyme and traditional music, the melody which also has Japanese taste, arm-crossed head-banging by the female vocal Cham, who is also a painter and addictive performance by the big guitar player Watanabe who can really move for his size are all hot topic.

Atarashii Gakkou no Leaders (しい学校リーダーズ) translated as New School Leaders or Leaders of a New School are a Japanese four member dance and vocal performance unit. The members are Mizyu, Rin, Suzuka and Kanon.

Their first album, Maenarawanai (マエナラワナイ), produced by H ZETT M debuted on March 21, 2018, was a departure from that sound. The album material features a range of genres including Showa-era, Electronic Jazz, Acid Jazz and Jazz Rock.

reGretGirl is a 3-piece rock band from Osaka, where they are mostly active. They have released 2 EP's and have played shows with bands such as Lambda, First Impression, and kazca. Members: Masahiro Hirabu (平部雅洋) - Vocals / Guitar, Michihiro Tokugawa (十九川宗裕) - Bass, Shoji Maeda (前田将司) - Drums. They have received a lot of attention and support. Even the famous model Fujita has posted their lyrics through Instagram story, and the popularity of TikTok in Japan has made them more famous among young fans.

Although the group name is related to the ex-girlfriend, the lyrics not only revolve around the theme of lovelorn and pain. It is a feminine style established in the lyrics, or it can be described as a woman's point of view. Even so, the singing voice of the lead singer Yayang doesn't have tender feeling at all. Instead, the painful feelings that everyone must pass are overwhelming and unreserved. Perhaps this "negative" power is more powerful.
