Michihiko Yanai is a Japanese creator and associate Professor at Tokyo University of the Arts. After graduating from Fukushima Prefecture Azumi High School, he entered Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He joined Hakuhodo in 1990 after graduating from the design department of the College of Art. Although getting popularity at the first job, after that, no hit advertisement comes out (he call this seven years as a dark period himself).
In 2004, he established "Wind and Ballad" as a creative agency which have never had in Japan. From April 2005, free paper "Monthly Wind and Rock" was published at his own expense. In December 2005, "Advertising Summit" was planned and held with the desire to remember the excitement of making advertisements for creators. He used to be regular guest as NHK's talk program "Top Runner" 5th generation MC. Currently, he is a part-time lecturer at the Tokyo University of the Arts and Design.
