A native of La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland, Raphaël Favre began singing under the tutelage of Marie-Lise de Montmollin and then pursued his studies at the La Chaux-de-Fonds Conservatory of Music. To complete his qualifications he studied under Christoph Prégardien at the Academy of Music in Zurich. During his time there, he also had the opportunity to improve his knowledge of German Lieder thanks to the teaching of Hartmut Höll.
