Edge of Spirit was a Japanese hardcore band formed in Kobe, Hyogo and based in Tokyo. They has released four studio albums and four split albums. The band is widely known for pioneering its musical style called metalcore / metallic hardcore. The band toured as an opening act for Arch Enemy Japan tour in 2002 and 2004.
After their 3rd album Rebirth, they toured as an opening act for Extreme The Dojo tour featuring The Haunted, Nile, and Exodus in 2006. The band toured Australia with The Rivalry and Palm in 2007, Canada and United States with Sand in 2008, and Europe with Rise Of The Northstar in 2011. Merauder is an American metalcore band from New York City, formed in 1990.
The group formed in 1990, establishing itself on the eastern U.S. hardcore-metal scene through frequent touring and a few demo releases. In 1995, the band released an EP after vocalist Jorge joined, replacing Minus, and toured with Biohazard. Upon the release of their 1996 debut, the band scored a slot opening for Fear Factory and toured Europe in 1995 with Böhse Onkelz. Merauder is also one of the key bands from the NYHC scene that shifted into the Crossover/ Metalcore genre. The band split-up following the recording of their 2003 release Bluetality.
In 2007, vocalist Jorge Rosado formed his own version of the band. Guitarist Anthony Muccini publicly opposed Rosado's use of the name, though Muccini himself is not an original member, having replaced the original guitarist, 'Karate" Chris Bozeth.
In 2008, the band announced completion of a new studio album recorded at Big Blue Meenie studios in Jersey City, New Jersey, and embarked on headline tours through Europe, Japan, and the U.S. The band also finished touring with The Haunted and The Agonist.
New record titled God Is I was released 19 June in Europe and 11 August 2009 through Regain Records. Although there were many difficulties with the European release, Regain Records has sent the copies only to Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the Netherlands.
In December 2009, just after their US trek with The Haunted and The Agonist, Merauder toured with Entombed and Devious around Europe. Their last show was performed on Eindhoven Metal Meeting, where they shared stage with the likes of Satyricon, Nile and Legion of the Damned.
In May the band went on a tour around the West Coast of US (including a festival in Las Vegas with such bands like Donnybrook and Grave Maker) and Mexico. On 13 August they're going to be a part of 'This is Hardcore' marathon in Philadelphia, PA and share stage with such bands like Bane, Cro-Mags, Sheer Terror, Death Before Dishonor and more.
Since its inception in 2003, Black Ganion, the ‘super metamorphosis grinder’, has turned the voice of the voiceless into ear-shattering noise and screams, hurling them to the world. The knee-deep sludge rends itself into furious grindcore, and the chilly dub cuttings morph into doom riffs and chaotic murkiness. Their collaboration with GOTH-TRAD on Method is regarded as one of the first ever successful chimaera of extreme music and dubstep.
Still, their music is not just a showcase of musical genres. Their inconsistency in musical styles shows the true musical identity of the band. The same can be said for the listeners – they must abandon the stylized routine moshings, and free their instincts. Black Ganion on stage is an epitome of modern society, the feast of freedom and aggression.
Paralemmin is a protein that in humans is encoded by the PALM gene.
This gene encodes a member of the paralemmin protein family. Other members of this family include CAP-23, GAP-43, MARCKS, and MacMARCKS. The product of this gene is a prenylated and palmitoylated phosphoprotein that associates with the cytoplasmic face of plasma membranes and is implicated in plasma membrane dynamics in neurons and other cell types. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified, but the full-length nature of only two transcript variants has been determined.
number9dream is the second novel by English author David Mitchell. Set in Japan, the novel narrates 19-year-old Eiji Miyake's search for his father, whom he has never met. Told in the first person by Eiji, it is a coming of age and perception story that breaks convention by juxtaposing Eiji Miyake’s actual journey toward identity and understanding with his imaginative journey. The novel employs eclectic narrations in each chapter.
The novel is divided into 9 chapters.
Eiji waits inside a café in front of the Panopticon building in Tokyo. Akiko Kato, his father's lawyer, works in the building. Eiji plans to meet her and find out who his father is. The chapter alternates between descriptions of Eiji waiting in the café and his fantasies about his meeting with Akiko Kato: first he imagines trying to bluff his way into the building before storming it with weapons and stealing his file; then that a huge flood would submerge Tokyo and drown him; then that he subtly follows Akiko Kato into a movie theater, eavesdropping on her meeting with his father while a surrealistic film plays on the screen. Eiji drifts out of his waking dreams and, back at the café, he observes the customers and waitresses: he is attracted by a waitress with a beautiful neck and he shares his cigarettes with an old man resembling Lao Tsu who passes his time playing videogames. However, Eiji never finds the courage to confront Akiko Kato about the whereabouts of his father.
This chapter consists of three interweaving narrations.
Eiji finds a job at the lost property office of a subway station. His boss, Mr. Aoyama, is worried that a restructuring could cost him a job; he becomes paranoid, accuses Eiji of conspiring against him, kidnaps a railway manager and finally kills himself.
In parallel, Eiji remembers his youth on the island of Yakushima, where he lived with his twin sister Anju after their mother abandoned them. One day Eiji is going to the mainland to play a soccer game. Before leaving he prays the thunder god to make him win, promising anything in exchange. Eiji's team wins the match thanks to him, but when he comes back to the island Anju has disappeared. Eiji discovers that she tried to swim to the whalestone, a rock in the middle of the sea, and drowned. He takes revenge on the thunder god by climbing to the top of the mountain to his statue's shrine, and sawing off the statue's head before throwing it into the sea.
