Bae Chee chul ( , Hangul: 배재철, Latin writing: Bae Jae-chul, 1969-) is a tenor singer from Korea. He was born in Oiso area city. After graduating from the Hanyang University Voice Academy, he studied in Italy and studied at the Verdi Conservatory. Since then he has won prizes in competitions across Europe and made his professional debut in 1998. Contracted with the Saarland State Theater in 2004. It is also described as "the best tenor in Asian opera history". He was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2005 and lost his voice at the end of the surgery. Activities resumed around 2008. In 2014, the Japan-Korea joint film The Tenor Truth Story, a movie of his life, was released. In the same film, Yoo Ji-te plays the role of Chechol.
