Noism (Noiseumu) was founded in the spring of 2004, dedicated to theaters. Leader is Kanamori Yuji who also concurrently serves as artistic director of the dance division of the Niigata Civic Art and Cultural Center (Ryuto Pia). Previously it was named Noism 04 with the name of the year in which it is active, but in September 2009 the main company was renamed Noism 1 with the establishment of the trainee company Noism 2. For over 15 years since its establishment, the dancers selected by the audition moved to Niigata not only from Japan, but also from abroad and are active throughout the year.
