Shortstraw have earned themselves a place as currently being one of the biggest bands in South Africa, with some of the most loyal fans a band could ask for. After 2014 took the band outside South Africa, Shortstraw continue to bring their uniquely South African Indie-Bele sound to the rest of the world.

Sawagi Taiko, founded in Vancouver, Canada, was the first all-male kumidaiko (taiko) group in Canada. It was founded by a group of men from Katari Taiko, the first Canadian kumidaiko group, and all of its members are exclusively Asian. As an offshoot of Katari Taiko, Sawagi considers San Jose Taiko an inspiration. Sawagi finds inspiration in the Chicago blues, occasionally including electric bass and vocal improvisation in their songs, as well as Japanese folk songs, and rap. Sawagi writes and arranges most of their compositions/dance's, some of which involve skits and vocals.
