1987 Civic Orchestra "Shimizu City Symphonic" was launched. It performed the first regular concert in that year. Since then, they held annual regular concerts.
1997 it was renamed "Shimizu Philharmonic Orchestra".
August 2012 Organized the World Amateur Orchestra Festival in Shizuoka (the 40th National Amateur Orchestra Festival). It operated as a host orchestra.

Hiroyasu Matsumoto (Conductor)

Hiroyasu Matsumoto graduated from Gakuen Music College. In 2003 he joined the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra as a conducting researcher and became a deputy conductor in 2006 and then started a career as a professional conductor.
In 2009 he was appointed as regular conductor. In 2012 as a full-time conductor of the Ryukyu Philharmonic Orchestra newly established in Okinawa. He was invited to Korea International Wind Band Festival sponsored by Korea Agency for Cultural Affairs of Korea 2010.
